Today our feature interview is with the lovely Kristy Ardo, a wife, mom, personal trainer and dive coach from Arizona, USA. 26 year old Kristy is mom to 9 month old Tate and 2 year old Tucker.
After Tucker was born Kristy went back to work full time up until Tate was born. She is now fortunate to be able to spend a lot of her time with the boys.
Kristy also developed the successful Stroller Fit Guide which is an ebook containing 4 weeks of stroller exercises that can be done anywhere on your stroller/buggy walk. Each workout lasts around 20 minutes so is great for busy mums.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how important is it that you workout and why? (10 being very important).
8! Exercising changes my mindset! I crave those post workout endorphins and exercising helps me battle anxiety. I feel amazing after a workout and it’s key for my mental health.
Did you work out during your pregnancy? If not why not?
Yes. Working out was part of my routine before becoming pregnant and there are many benefits to continuing exercise. Plus working out and moving makes pregnancy go faster!
How much time do you dedicate to exercising each week?
3-4 times a week for 15 minutes.
What keeps you motivated when you’re tired or the little ones have worn you out?
We all have those rough days where everything goes wrong or the little ones are extra fussy. Working out is such an outlet for me and after a bad day it feels great to take it out on some squats 🙂
Do you follow a super clean diet or just eat sensibly?
I follow a clean diet. I have been eating gluten free for over 16 years and I get clean whole foods. I try to eat high healthy fats and proteins and minimal amount of carbs and grains.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I fight getting up in the morning because all I want to do is sleep in. After the fight Tucker and I crack eggs and make sausage. After that we play, maybe squeeze in a workout. If it’s sunny we head down to the pool for a swim! Everyday I try to do something different whether it’s going to the park, library, lake, gymnastics, or zoo. Everyday we try to switch it up! Bed time is around 9-10. Then I try to relax and watch a show with my Husband.
What do you find is your biggest struggle? Food, exercise, time, motivation?
My biggest struggle is FATIGUE. It is a daily battle. I recently got diagnosed with hypothyroidism which has added to my fatigue. Working out and coffee helps me! 😉
What is the best part of your day?
Spending time with my boys and watching them grow. I love going on new adventures and experiencing them together.
Finally, if you could give one piece of advice to new mums or mums-to-be what would it be?
Don’t be too hard on yourself or compare yourself to other moms! We are all doing the best we can. Tell yourself every day what a great job you are doing! Social Media can make other moms look like they are perfect and have no struggles. Just remember social media is a highlight real and it’s a great way to push for positivity!
